- Abstract
The article examines the use of auxiliary forces, particularly the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), by the U.S. Air Force (USAF) to accomplish strategic objectives and reduce defense costs. The major national security strategic objectives include border security, cyberterrorism prevention, and promoting and protecting the country's national security innovation base. The legal framework that allows the CAP to perform domestic, noncombat missions as the official USAF Auxiliary is also examined.
