The administration of methylphenidate (Ritalin®) to a patient with Alzheimer's disease who was in a critical condition (i.e. refusal of food, apathy and congestive heart failure) resulted in recovery to a stable health condition and stabilization of dementia. In this article various aspects of methylphenidate therapy in patients with Alzheimer's disease are presented.
