- Abstract
Today, energy healing practices from modern healing tendencies are becoming widespread. Energy healing, which is accepted in New Age beliefs, appeals to people from all strata and offers solutions to many problems such as physiological diseases and personal problems. It is seen that energy healing practices, which are put forward as healing techniques, are built under the shadow of different beliefs. In Turkey, there is increasing interest in energy healing practices such as reiki, theta healing, EFT, access bars and bioenergy practices. Energy healing practices are becoming popular with the media and social media channels. This research has been carried out to evaluate whether the people who receive energy healing practices are aware of which philosophies these practices are products of as well as how they are affected. This research is based on the question of "Why is there a need for energy healing within the scope of New Age beliefs?" In this study, the interview technique, which is one of the qualitative research techniques, has been used, personal information form and semistructured / open-ended questions have been prepared for the participants. Males and females, 24 people in total, who benefit from energy healing practices have been interviewed, and the feelings and experiences of the participants about energy healing have been revealed. It is seen that the participants went to these practices to find solutions to many physical, psychological and family problems, some of the participants expressed their satisfaction with the energy healing training, while some of them did not find it suitable for the principles of Islamic belief and felt uncomfortable. The issue is evaluated in terms of showing wrong and superstitious beliefs, which is one of the aims of Religious Education. In this study, the current situation of energy healing practices, which is an interdisciplinary subject, in terms of religious education is evaluated.
