- Abstract
This study examines the biography of Judge Muhammad bin Mahboob al-Rihaili (d. 260 AH/873 AD) and his contributions to the administrative and Scientific life in Oman during the period (226- 260AH / 840-873 AD) (during the regins of two Imams, al-Muhanna bin Jaifar al-Yahmadi, and al-Salat ibn Malik al-Yahmadi. Muhammad bin Mahboob bin Al-Rihail was a jurist, mufti, judge, teacher, advisor, and seasoned politician, who contributed to public life in Oman: political, administrative, cultural and intellectual life in Oman throughout the studied period. The study consists of an introduction and conclusion and three main sections. The first section explores the biography and life of Sheikh Muhammad bin Mahboob. The second section examines the contributions of al-Rihaili in the administrative life, while the third sections adresses the roles of al-Rihaili in cultural life in Oman. The conclusion includes the most important results. This study relies on a group of manuscript letters and biographies of Judge Muhammad bin Mahboub to reveal the roles and contributions of alRihaili.
