The article reports on the Pakaihi i te Moana biodiversity expedition which visited nine Marquesas islands in French Polynesia, and identified first on high-resolution satellite imagery, a shallow reef sheltering a small lagoon. The forereef was entirely made of Millepora cf platyphyllia colonies, characterized by a honeycomb-like vertical growth form.
