- Abstract
The author offers his views on deep seabed mining issues arising from the Third United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS III). He tackles the cost competitiveness of minerals from the ocean as an economic issue. He cites his opinion on the ability of the Preparatory Commission to deal with risks in the Law of the Sea Treaty. He also cites his opinion about the issue of taxation of seabed profits. He provides an overview of an industry platform adopted by the American Mining Congress (AMC).
