- Abstract
The article offers information on the epigraphic and archaeological evidence that proves higher-educated layers of society in Gandhara art school in India were familiar with the Mediterranean culture of their day in terms of literature and the performing arts. Topics discussed include immediate attraction of Gandharan art to the European recipient; stylistic vocabulary of the visual arts; and paintings on the chamber walls and on urns and sarcophagi.
