- Abstract
The article offers information about the periodontal disease mostly found in children who are born prematurely. It is stated that people suffering from Down's syndrome are highly prevalent to periodontal disease compared to other mentally handicapped patients. In mentally handicapped children, therapy is often complicated by the relative inaccessibility of these patients and by the difficulty of obtaining sustained cooperation from them. Analgosedation has earlier been recommended as a better alternative to general anesthesia to perform dental care in mentally handicapped persons.
