- Abstract
The article addresses the issue of sexism in the U.S. educational system. Many male educators have been amazed because the accusation of sex discrimination in public schools challenges some of the most sacred educational dogma such as the consideration of co-education as a guarantor of educational equality for boys and girls. The author identifies the areas where there is a need for additional analysis. Such areas include channeling the behavior of boys and girls into acceptable sexual patterns, the mentality of athletic personnel and administrators, and the absence of women in administrative positions and in nontraditional teaching assignments. The author suggests that teacher educators must make an active effort to assist all prospective teachers to develop leadership aspirations based on their own interests and abilities
