- Abstract
In order to selectively reduce the content of some volatile compounds in cigarette sidestream smok, 12 metal composite gel materi⁃ als were prepared by sol-gel method and other methods. The materials were analyzed and characterzed by using cold field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and X-ray diffraction instrument (XRD), and these gels were uniformly coated on the surface of cigarette pa⁃ per to evaluate their effects on volatile compound reduction by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The results showed that the gel materials had uniform porous structure, which was conducive to dispersing the smoke to reduce the content of volatile compounds in sidestream smoke. The reduction rate of volatile carbonyl compounds in sidestream smoke by the gel materials could always reach more than 35% with remarkable effect.
