- Abstract
The article looks at the potential of pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCVs) in enabling prevention of acute otitis media (AOM). Topics discussed include AOM is a respiratory disease that occurs often in infancy and childhood, a study was done on randomized controlled trials that used PCVs on children aged up to 12 years, and results showed that CRM197-PCV-7 is the PCV that puts infants at the lowest risk of contracting AOM, although it does not work on high-risk infants and older children.
