- Abstract
The article provides information on psoriasis. Psoriasis is a skin disease that affects over seven million people in the U.S. The primary symptoms are red, scaly raised areas of skin or plaques that may appear in the scalp, elbows, knees, genital areas and trunk. Some patients may also experience swelling, pain and stiffness in their joints, conditions that are categorized as psoriatic arthritis. Treatment options include topical treatments, vitamin D preparations and phototherapy.
