- Abstract
This article, published in the Journal of Forestry, examines the changes in structure, composition, and diversity of the Thain Family Forest in the Bronx, New York, over the past century. The study uses forest inventory data from 1937 to 2021 to analyze the increase in hardwoods and the loss of the dominant species, eastern hemlock. The researchers also use historic and recent photographs to visually document these changes. The article acknowledges the ancestral homeland of the Lenape people and the support of the Thain family and the New York Botanical Garden in conducting this research. No specific funding was received for this study.
