- Abstract
This fall I sat in quiet wake above an unclean creek that lured me once from class to stand barefoot like a beakless heron stalking crayfish without fear in its then clear waters of glass before I was stopped stood tall by the sight of them Monarchs hundreds fluttering like autumn leaves who've shed their sinewy tethers to help us recall nature's unsurpassing beauty to mind an unseen path to their wintering where now in the fading clutch of memory just a few still find the unquiet trees whose whispers warned of a time when the air would be dead and none would recall its passing.
