ANNIVERSARIES.
Abstract
In 1949, Pittsburgh news station WDTV (now KDKA-TV) debuted, becoming the most extensive network of television stations at the time. This marked a significant milestone in the development of television, with the Associated Press describing it as a "giant stride toward coast-to-coast television." WDTV expanded its programming to include educational shows and became the first station to broadcast 24 hours a day in 1952. The proliferation of streaming services today has made network TV seem outdated, but it was just getting started 75 years ago.
