- Abstract
USPSTF Recommendations on Vitamin and Mineral Supplements for Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease and Cancer - Reply Comment & Response B In Reply b In their letter, Drs Spence and Hankey discuss what they describe as an exception to the USPSTF's recent recommendations[1] that the evidence is insufficient to assess the balance of benefits and harms of the use of single or paired nutrient supplements (other than beta carotene and vitamin E) or multivitamins for the prevention of cardiovascular disease or cancer. In response, the USPSTF would like to highlight the important differences between the evidence Spence and Hankey cite in their letter and the USPSTF Recommendation Statement, as well as to clarify the meaning of an I statement.
