An essay is presented on response of art to the sociopolitical climate of democratization, post-industrialization, and changing China-Taiwan relations. It offers information on the approach of artists Chen Chieh-jen, Wu Ma-li and Huang Po-Chih in the context of sociopolitical shifts. The author mentions about the Wu Ma-li's practice of art as a soft means of effecting social change, and Huang Po-chih's practice of art as a platform for exchange.
