The article reports on the blue sedge (Carex breviculmis), a native plant of Asia and Australia. The plant was found thriving in several cemeteries in Meridian, Mississippi by Mississippi State University graduate student Lucas Majure while he was scouting for plant species, and was later identified by botanist Charles Bryson of Agricultural Research Service's Crop Production Systems Research Unit. The plant's link to the final resting places of royal Gypsy family members is cited.
