- Abstract
The article discusses a study which investigated the use of Australia's patent oppositions and commented on the extent to which the patent opposition system meets its purported objectives. The study examined all patent applications filed in Australia from 1980-2005. It mentions that more than a third of the patent applications that are opposed will be granted in an improved form or not be granted at all.
