Colorless forsterite from Tajikistan.
- Authors
Kondo, David M.
- Abstract
The article presents the result of an examination of a colorless pear-shaped brilliant forsterite from Tajikistan, which came from pieces of rough mixed with a 3+ kilogram parcel of clinohumite that gem dealer Farooq Hashmi obtained in mid-2008 and were submitted to GIA. The forsterite has traces of calcium, manganese and silicon, based on EDXRF spectroscopy. On the other hands, laser-ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectroscopy revealed that the forsterite contains concentrations of magnesium oxide and ferric oxide.
