- Abstract
The article discusses reason and history as guides for hospital pharmacy practice leaders. Leadership has certainly become a well-discussed topic in hospital pharmacy and, indeed, in all of society. The United States' obsession with celebrity has fostered interest in the charismatic, colorful leaders in various fields, including business, religion, politics, diplomacy, and war. The author suspects that nearly everyone in this room owns one or more books on some facet of leadership. The literature contains an astonishing array of frameworks for analyzing and developing leadership in self or in groups.
