- Title
Creation of Dipolar Vein Graft from Bifid Saphenous Vein System.
- Authors
Swersky, Robert B.
- Abstract
The fabrication of a vein graft suitable for distal reconstruction of the lower extremity utilizing a section of bifid saphenous vein system is described. The configuration of the graft resembles a dipole antenna when splayed open, and hence, the name dipolar vein graft. This graft has some attributes of reversed saphenous vein, as well as of translocated vein grafting. The technique is simple and may have a distinct advantage over other alternatives when the greater saphenous vein is unsuitable or unavailable. Further, it provides a long uninterrupted conduit to the lower leg.
