- Title
The Gifts of the Snag Forests.

- Abstract
High-severity wildfires, which result in the creation of snag forests, are often mistakenly seen as catastrophic and a loss. However, from an ecological perspective, these forests are biologically diverse and important. They provide habitat for a variety of species, including bees, butterflies, woodpeckers, and other birds. The aftermath of high-severity fires also leads to a surge in wildflowers, which in turn affects the abundance of insects and supports fish in aquatic ecosystems. Additionally, dead trees store carbon and contribute to the unique habitat quality of high-severity blaze areas.
