- Abstract
The article discusses a disagreement between two groups of researchers regarding the neuroprogression hypothesis in bipolar disorder. The authors of the article refute the claims made by Strejilevich and colleagues that the neuroprogression hypothesis has been debunked and that the CANMAT/ISBD guidelines have incorporated this hypothesis. They provide evidence to support the neuroprogression hypothesis, including studies on early intervention, relapse prevention, and alterations in brain structures. The authors call for further well-designed studies to advance our understanding of bipolar disorder.
