- Abstract
The article presents an overview of sexually transmitted diseases, including chlamydia and gonorrhea. Chlamydia is said to be caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. It informs that transmissions occur through vaginal and anal sex, as well as from mother to fetus. Gonorrhea is caused by bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae, with risk factors including the inconsistent or improper use of contraceptives, multiple sex partners and having current or prior sexually transmitted infections.
