- Abstract
The author considers the essay entitled "The 1 Percent Problem" by Joseph Stiglitz which appeared in the June 2, 1012 issue of "Vanity Fair," focusing on issues of social injustice arising from inequalities of wealth including consumption, rent-seeking, and mistrust. An introduction to the issue is also presented which discusses topics including a comparison of capitalism and socialism, the role of the U.S. dollar in the world's monetary systems, and the changing role of women in China in the 1950s.
