Abstract
The article discusses the Toxic Releases Inventory (TRI) report in which the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said that metal mining is responsible for an increase in toxic chemicals, such as lead, released into the environment. However, the National Mining Association (NMA) contends many of these substances occur naturally in the rocks and soils.
