- Abstract
The article focuses on a study done on the occurrence and isolating effect of narrow hybrid zones of the Common shrew, Sorex araneus (S. araneus), on Valdai hills, Russia. It describes the microsatellite analysis done on 108 individuals of S. araneus and statistical analyses carried out using software including FSTAT, GENEPOP, and FreeNA. The study shows the genetic distance between the Common and the Caucasian shrews greater than between chromosome races.
