The author reflects on anatomic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. He elaborates on why scientists can not solve the so-called ACL mystery with all new studies. He cites their belief that ACL reconstruction if performed early after the ACL injury will lead to better kinematics and less morbidity. He also stresses that the focus of ACL reconstruction is to restore and reproduce the native anatomy of the ligament.
