- Title
Animal behaviour: Why promiscuity pays.
- Authors
Bellamy, Lawrence; Pomiankowski, Andrew
- Abstract
The article focuses on the study by N. M. Gerlach and colleagues regarding the promiscuity of female birds specifically the dark-eyed juncos (Junco hyemalis). It says that they used the blood samples from all social pairs and their offspring as F1 and the subsequent offspring F2, wherein female promiscuity increased the offspring's lifetime fitness. Moreover, junco females for promiscuous liaisons may be influenced by the display traits and song of males.
