- Abstract
The article presents the study on remote mapping of rivers using optical device at sub-meter resolutions and watershed extents. It discusses the problem of low density data provided by locally intensive mapping of rivers that is characterized by discontinuous systems. It focuses on the possibility of generating accurate and continuous maps of in-stream habitats, algae, wood, depths, stream power and other characteristics of river at sub-meter resolutions using optical remote sensing devices. It states that such maps will enable to transform river management and science by providing data, better models and understanding and improved applications.
