The article interprets the ontological and ethical dimensions in a dialectic between aesthetic and history in Elizabeth Bishop's poem titled "Poem." The symbolism of Bishop's miniature aesthetics is examined, and the aesthetics of particularity observed in the poem are commented on. The concept of the intrusion of history in the poem is also touched on.
