- Abstract
Using the phenomenology of Martin Heidegger, and his notions of 'ontological difference', 'being-in-the-world', 'present-at' and 'ready-to-hand' I will give an interpretative phenomenological analysis of the experience of Tourette's Syndrome (TS). I will argue for a new relational-mode that I have called the 'excessive present-at-hand' that may also be a feature of other psychopathologies, and how treatment maybe re-conceptualised through the 'ready-to-hand' mode.
