- Abstract
The author discusses how a chance meeting between Oswald, Bishop of Worcester and Æthelwine, Ealdorman of East Anglia, led to the establishment of Ramsey Abbey in England. Topics explored include their conversation about establishing a monastery after they met at a funeral in Glastonbury, the significant association of scholar Abbo of Fleury and monk Byrhtferth with the Benedictine abbey, and the impact of the Dissolution of the Monasteries on the monastic library of the abbey.
