- Abstract
We analyze the contribution of the positivist philosophy to the national science at the end of the 19th Century in Chile, especially the work of its main exponents: José Victorino Lastarria, the Lagarrigue brothers, Valentín Letelier and others; as well as the subsequent influence of such ideas in the sociocultural and political framework of the period, particularly regarding the management of the categories of liberalism, progress and technological and scientific development. Finally, from the force of such inquiries, we extrapolate how this ideas are present in the philosophy of the time of the Bicentenary of the Independence of Chile.
