- Title
Sustainability as a Frame of Mind-and How to Develop It.
- Authors
Bonnett, Michael
- Abstract
The article discusses the notion that education for sustainable development may be examined by conceiving of sustainability as a frame of mind rather than a policy. According to the author, two reasons for thinking of sustainability as a frame of mind are that sustainability as a policy is inherently problematic and that frame of mind requires the concept of a right relationship with nature. The author indicates that a nature-oriented frame of mind may both add to the clarification of sustainable development as an idea and also identify something which is of great educational importance. The author also discusses how sustainability as a frame of mind can be developed, particularly within the school curriculum.
