- Abstract
The article cites a study, which explored mothers' perceptions of how homelessness and shelter life affected family relationships. The article reveals that participants of the study reported increased closeness and heightened qualm' and quantity of interaction with their children, but a disruption in their roles as' disciplinarians and provider/caretakers. The article states that the perceptions of these mothers can provide valuable information for shelter staff and other service providers about how to maintain the integrity of family relationships as parents attempt to resolve their housing crises. Mothers perceived that two specific aspects of family relationships were affected by homelessness and living in a shelter life on family relationships.
