- Title
Perception of Parent-Child Relationships in First Married and Remarried Families.
- Authors
Hobart, Charles W.
- Abstract
This study focussed on husbands' and wives' perceptions of parents' relationships with shared and unshared children, and on spousal differences in these perceptions, in first married and remarried families. Significant differences were found in respect to parental relations with "his," "hers," and "their" children, and to differences in parental perceptions of these children. Analysis of these data shows that they correlate with marital adjustment and suggests important differences in family dynamics in first married and remarried families. The significance of findings for family practitioners is discussed.
