- Abstract
Without an additional activator, the visible‐light‐catalyzed denitroalkylation of β‐nitrostyrenes and alkyl boronic acids is reported. The efficient coupling of cyclic and secondary alkyl boronic acids with various aryl nitroolefins is realized, which gives aryl alkyl olefins in 47–87 % yields. A possible mechanism involving the fact that nitrite is released from β‐nitrostyrene upon irradiation and further activates alkyl boronic acids to generate alkyl radicals is proposed based on control experiments and a literature survey.
