- Abstract
This article discusses the identification of fetal female internal genitalia as a clue to the prenatal diagnosis of urorectal septum malformation sequence (URSMS). URSMS is a rare congenital anomaly that affects almost exclusively females. On ultrasound, affected patients often present with two separate abdominopelvic cysts, with the anterior cyst representing the bladder and the posterior cyst representing the distended vagina/uterus. The article presents a case study of a pregnant woman with suspected URSMS, where the diagnosis was confirmed through visualization of the fetal internal genitalia using three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction. The prenatal diagnosis allowed for appropriate counseling and informed decision-making by the parents.
