- Abstract
This article aims to identify the impacts of Open University of Brazil (UAB) system in the teaching practices of two federal institutions of higher education in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. The methodology was qualitative approach and corpus constituted by regulations and guidelines of the UAB, internal standards for distance education (EaD) and teachers who work in both institutions. Documentary and bibliographical analyses were performed, as well as semi-structured interviews. Another highlight, within the proposed clipping, that the effects caused by the execution of the UAB system relate directly with the challenges faced by teachers of higher education from the implementation of the distance learning courses in the institutions surveyed. These challenges involve the precariousness of work due to the accumulation of tasks, the form of compensation by means of scholarships, the lack of institutionalization of the UAB system, the complexity of the relationships between teachers, tutors and technical teams, among others. The impact felt in teaching practices through the use of Information and Communication Technologies represents the need for development of new concepts for the methodological approaches and for the performance of the actors involved in education, both in face-to-face teaching and EaD.
