- Title
USING GROUP DISCUSSIONS TO IMPROVE SOCIAL PROBLEM-SOLVING AND LEARNING.
- Authors
Miller, Merilee; Nunn, Gerald D.
- Abstract
This article reviews research on using group discussions to improve social problem-solving and learning in the classroom and suggests guidelines for implementation. Since diverse demands upon teacher time and resources make it difficult to deal with these concerns systematically, group-based solutions that can be integrated into the classroom milieu are appealing alternatives to traditional external methods of management-encouraging students to develop internal capacities for self-direction and control.
