- Abstract
Stars appear in gas cloud as the final result of the gravitational collapse process. In this divulgation paper we study the gravitational collapse of a spherical cloud model, such that it is composed of a denser core plus a surrounding gas envelope. We numerically simulate the collapse of four cloud models according with several radial envelope gas extensions. We define the ratios of the thermal and rotational energies with respect to the potential gravitational energy, denoted as α and β, respectively. We plot the time evolution of these dynamic parameters α and β to probe that they characterize very well the physical evolution of the cloud model and that important events, as the fragmentation occurrence in the cloud, leave an imprint on these dynamical parameters.
