- Title
Estimation of De Facto Flexibility Parameter and Basket Weights in Evolving Exchange Rate Regimes.
- Authors
Frankel, Jeffrey; Xie, Daniel
- Abstract
The article presents an investigation into the varying de facto exchange rate regimes managed by several countries. Introductory comments are given outlining the typical behaviors of many nations to actively influence the values of exchange despite official policies of neutrality. Further examination is given to the lack of standardized techniques for estimating these exchange policies. An econometric equation is provided to better compare exchange rate variability to foreign exchange reserve variability along with a case example seen in the Mexican peso.
