- Title
Improving Colorfastness to Ozone in Nylon Carpets.
- Authors
Bowles, James; Aspland, J. Richard
- Abstract
An overview of ozone fading behavior on polyamide carpets is given. Blue anthraquinone dyes are known to be sensitive to ozone. Dyed carpet showing good colorfastness to light does not necessarily have good colorfastness to ozone. Ozoneresistant anthraquinone dyes have good colorfastness to shampooing. Proper selection of fibers, dyes, chemicals and application processes used Is necessary for good colorfastness to ozone. The use of some specific reactive dyes has been shown to significantly improve resistance to ozone fading.
