- Abstract
This article compares the pros and cons of two techniques for radical cystectomy, a surgical procedure for bladder cancer. The standard technique is trans-peritoneal radical cystectomy, which involves removing the bladder and nearby lymph nodes. However, it can lead to complications such as gastrointestinal problems. An alternative technique is extra-peritoneal radical cystectomy, which has been suggested to reduce postoperative complications. However, it can cause issues such as fluid leakage and anastomosis failure. The article suggests that extra-peritoneal radical cystectomy may be more suitable for orthotopic urinary diversion.
