- Abstract
A 15-plex/xMAP method was established to simultaneously detect 15 animal ingredients. The method, based on multiplex PCR and the Luminex multifluorescent bead detection system, was able to sensitively differentiate mammal and ruminant species, and in particular, to detect 11 mammal and two poultry species. The estimated sensitivity of a mixed-meat sample was 0.1% (weight percentage). In a survey of commercially processed meat products, nine of 16 samples were found to contain adulterated ingredients. The assay of the 16 samples took only 3 h for the identification of the 15 animal ingredients.
