The article discusses a study on ways in which U.S. organized crime has capitalized on globalization and technological change and the challenges it poses for law enforcement. Topics addressed include the extent to which organized crime is a threat to national security, law enforcement's conceptualization of organized crime in the 21st century, and the U.S. government's policy on countering transnational organized crime. Also mentioned are potential issues for the U.S. Congress.
