- Abstract
The efficiency and effectiveness of logging equipment are largely determined by the amplitude-time characteristics of neutron fluxes, which depend on the parameters of the magnetic field generating systems, anode voltage pulses, gas composition, gas pressure, and others. The processes of restoration of the breakdown strength of gas in the interelectrode gap during the pauses between the supply voltage pulses affect the discharge ignition conditions and stability of the neutron flux characteristics. The results of experimental investigations of the pulse-packet operating regimes of Penning ion sources under conditions of wide adjustment of the parameters of the control and power systems for neutron tubes are reported.
