- Authors
Wells, Rhiannon
- Abstract
The article describes the case of a 22-month old male Siamese-cross cat imported from South Africa which was presented with incompetence and malaise. Examinations showed moderate to severe thrombocytopenia and an erythrocytes contained protozoal organisms with a morphology consistent with Babesia feli. It indicated that Babesiosis is caused by a tickborne intraerythrocytic parasite that is endemic in South African areas.
